Two kingdoms. One ancient boundary. A love that was never supposed to happen.
The Aerondel series follows the human mages of Aerondel and the fae of the Veiled Wood — two peoples kept apart by centuries of distrust, and a fracture in the world itself that only grows more dangerous with time.
Across this series, hearts collide, old secrets surface, and the choices made by one generation ripple into the next. Start with The Bridge of Cinders and step into a world of dragons, bridges, and love worth crossing kingdoms for.
Two kingdoms.
One bridge.
A love neither side was meant to survive.
Aerondel, Book One
For as long as anyone can remember, the Bridge of Cinders has opened only at dawn and dusk — the single crossing between the human kingdom of Aerondel and the wild, fae-ruled Veiled Wood. Wren Farrow has never had reason to cross it. An unremarkable mage with ink-stained hands and a talent for being overlooked, she has spent twelve years proving her worth to a kingdom that barely notices her.
Then the fracture between the two realms begins to widen — and Wren is the only one who senses it happening.
Her investigation draws her face to face with Kael Thornshade, the fae Warden who has guarded the bridge for centuries and who cannot, by the nature of his own magic, speak a single word that isn't true. Drawn together by a danger neither of them fully understands, Wren and Kael uncover a secret buried in Wren's own bloodline — one that could either save both their worlds, or shatter them completely.
As the fracture worsens and old enemies circle, Wren and Kael must choose between the duty they were raised to honour and the undeniable pull between them. Trust is dangerous. Love, across this particular divide, might be impossible.
But some bridges are worth crossing.
The Bridge of Cinders is Book One in the Aerondel series — a slow-burn, fae-and-mortal fantasy romance for readers who want their happily-ever-afters with a little magic stirred in.

I really liked this book because it combines fantasy, mystery, and even some romance in a way that kept me hooked. I liked Wren as a character because she feels invisible but slowly discovers that she is so much important than she thinks.
The Bridge of Cinders is a compelling fantasy novel with strong pacing and well-developed emotional stakes. Atmospheric fantasy with a focus on resilience, identity, and difficult choices.
Aerondel, Book Two
Twenty-three years after the Bridge of Cinders was sealed, Aerondel and the Veiled Wood have known a rare and fragile peace. Alden Thornshade, son of the mage and the fae Warden who once bridged two worlds, has fallen in love with Liora Ashvale — granddaughter of Lady Ithren, and living proof that peace can last a generation. Their wedding should be a celebration of everything their parents fought for.
Instead, it becomes a reckoning. As the Veiled Wood's smallest and gentlest creatures begin to sicken, old fears resurface on both sides of the bridge — whispers that every marriage between mage and fae draws the realm closer to ruin. With Chancellor Voss quietly fanning the flames of unrest, Alden and Liora must journey deep into the Wood to uncover a truth buried for a generation: a secret Lady Ithren has carried since the day Kael made his final vow.
The cure lies in the ruins of a forgotten chapel, bound to magic older than either kingdom remembers. But duty, politics, and inherited grudges may cost Alden and Liora the very future their parents once risked everything to build. Can their love hold two kingdoms together — or will the mistakes of the past finally come due?

Aerondel, Book Three
Five years after her son's wedding, Wren Farrow kneels at two graves — one she expected to grieve, and one she never thought she'd forgive. Before the ache can settle, two fugitive dragons arrive at Embyr's door, fleeing their own kingdom for a crime they insist was born of loyalty, not treachery. Embyr grants them shelter. Drakemoor demands their return.
As Aerondel's failing water supply forces a fragile diplomatic alliance with the very kingdom hunting them, Wren's daughter Elara is sent to broker peace — and finds herself falling for a man who could cost her everything she came to protect. When the truth behind the fugitive dragons' actions surfaces in the middle of the negotiations, Elara is caught in the fallout, and the peace Wren and Kael built a generation ago threatens to unravel into open war.
Dragonfire lights the moor. Old loyalties are tested, and new ones are born. And somewhere beneath it all, a secret older than the sealing itself is stirring — one Wren isn't ready to face, and doesn't yet dare to name.
Some debts are paid in blood. Others, in trust. And some can only be paid by choosing, once again, what kind of family this is going to be.

Aerondel, Book Four
Seven months of peace is not the same as seven months of safety.
Wren Farrow and Kael Thornshade know a secret no one else can be allowed to hear: beneath Drakemoor's moorland lies a wound older than the sealing that bound their own two lands together — one they have chosen, for now, to carry alone.
But the ground does not keep secrets. When the moor collapses without warning, the fissure can no longer be managed quietly, and the fragile peace between three kingdoms — human, fae, and dragon-warrior alike — begins to unravel exactly when Wren's daughter Elara needs it to hold most.
As old distrust threatens to tear apart what a generation fought to build, Wren and Kael must uncover a truth buried for five centuries — and find a way to mend it before war, grief, or the earth itself closes in. Between a birth that arrives amid crisis, a warrior commander who may choose vengeance over peace, and a guardian's long-awaited choice, the Thornshade family will learn that some wounds can only be healed the way they were made: together.
The Weeping Scar is Book Four of the Aerondel series — a tale of found family, hard-won trust, and the quiet, stubborn hope that new life can mend even the oldest breaks.

Aerondel, Book Five
Thirty-three years ago, Kael Thornshade gave up forever.
He was fae, and undying, and Warden of the Bridge of Cinders. He bound his fate to a mortal woman's so they would end together, and for thirty-three years the price stayed quiet.
Now Kael is dying. Not from a wound or a curse — simply, naturally, of age. And as he fails, so does the Bridge. The boundary between the living and the dead begins to thin. Old grief will not stay buried. The recently dead do not rest.
Wren Farrow knows why. She has always known. She cannot tell her children, she cannot tell the council, and she cannot save him — because a death that is hurried will not settle the debt.
She can only stay, and watch, and let him go.
The final book in the Aerondel series.
